An uncommon design from surf brand Hang Ten. The brand was founded in 1960 when surfer Duke Boyd designed a pair of shorts specifically for surfing. He got Doris Boeck to sew up his new “boardshorts”. Doris added a nice little touch of two embroidered little feet.

The shorts were a big hit with the local Southern California surfers. Boyd and Boeck formed the business which Boyd named Hang Ten, after a surfing move. By 1962 their shorts were being sold all along the California coast, and by the 1970s they had expanded their line beyond tee's and boardshorts.

  • Garment Care

All garments have been cleaned prior to arriving at your doorstep. We use biodegradable detergent and other methods of cleaning that are gentle on vintage and the earth. For garments that can stand water submersion, we recommend hand washing. If you have questions about how to launder a piece from our shop, please reach out.

  • Ensuring proper fit

Measurements for each garment are taken while it is lying flat. We provide an estimated modern size equivalent, however the best way to ensure proper fit is to measure either yourself or a similar garment in your wardrobe. Please reach out if you have questions on how to compare either measurements to ours.
