One of the first finished garment factories based out of Lynchburg Virginia, the N&W Overall Company was formed in 1902 and began it's life producing bib overalls for local N&W railroad employees. After seeing success the company expanded to the public sector, producing ready to wear overalls and other denim garments for farmers and other working people across the country. This jacket, which was produced in the 1930's, was sourced from the original owner's estate in North Carolina. It has a five pocket design, with four pockets on the front and a large pocket on the interior. Three of the front change buttons had been replaced by the original owner with 1940's Navy change buttons, which were used in the production of the denim shawl.
