Hello Kitty was created in 1974 by Sanrio designer Yuko Shimizu. The first product to feature the kitty was a vinyl coin purse that was introduced to the public in 1975, with the only know existing original purse sitting in a vault at Sanrio's headquarters in Japan.

This rare and collectible Hello Kitty bag was released in 2005 and features its two original vinyl charms.

Materials: Cotton corduroy and vinyl

Condition: Overall great shape with very light wear. A few areas of yellowing along the edge. Some wear to the vinyl charms. Overall clean interior with only minor wear to the vinyl card folder. One area of red stitching visible along the trim (looks like it came that way from the manufacturer).

Measurements (all measured flat):
Width: 9 in
Height: 5 in (excluding strap)

  • Garment Care

All garments have been cleaned prior to arriving at your doorstep. We use biodegradable detergent and other methods of cleaning that are gentle on vintage and the earth. For garments that can stand water submersion, we recommend hand washing. If you have questions about how to launder a piece from our shop, please reach out.

  • Ensuring proper fit

Measurements for each garment are taken while it is lying flat. We provide an estimated modern size equivalent, however the best way to ensure proper fit is to measure either yourself or a similar garment in your wardrobe. Please reach out if you have questions on how to compare either measurements to ours.
